Fit for summer: 5 powerful tips
Summer is around the corner, and with summer comes the desire for additional outdoor activities. Temperatures rise, and clothes become lighter and shorter. Many of us place ourselves under too much pressure to get fit for the hot season. As a result, expectations will not be meet, leaving a sense of frustration. For better outcomes, it is necessary to make healthy and realistic plans if you want to get fit in time for summer. Here are our top 5 tips.
Tip 1: Set realistic goals
The first step is to set realistic goals developing a plan to achieve them. If you intend to lose weight or define your body with muscles, what works best is the classic combination of a healthier diet and regular exercise. Estimate the time you need and set a clear date for your personal goal. Always be realistic!
Tip 2: Motivate yourself in smartly
Your biggest enemy is your weaker self. What does it mean? For example, instead of preparing some tasty vegetable sticks with dips for the film night at home, you order a family pizza with extra cheese at the last minute. Keeping your goal in mind, you can prevent these “missteps.” How? It’s easy: Prepare enough healthy treats in the fridge, or put up pictures of the target shape you’re aiming. Another trick could be to buy smaller clothes you want to fit into or motivate yourself with quotes from famous people as wallpaper on your smartphone or PC. An example from a former president of the United States: “To reach a port, we must sail – sail, not anchor – sail, not drift.”
Tip 3: Be active
Exercise is good for your body. It stimulates your circulation, lifts your mood, and improves general fitness. You can optimise your weight and muscle mass through regular exercise. If you are not a sports person and are rather untrained, you should remember not to push your body too hard. Increase your training gradually. Choose a sport you enjoy: You won’t be stimulated to keep up regular training if you are not having fun. Do you prefer to play football with your friends in the park or break a sweat at the gym? It’s all up to you: Keep moving!
Tip 4: Get enough sleep
A good night of sleep is necessary for your vital functions. It is not only good for your mind but also your body. In today’s stressful times, we underestimate the importance of a good night’s sleep. Instead, we want to make the most of our free time with series marathons or hanging out late. It won’t be an issue if it is not a habit, of course, but if you are permanently sleep-deprived, your performance during the day could decrease significantly.
At the same time, you lose motivation, encouraging your weaker self to take over. The amount of sleep needed can vary from person to person: Usually, it is between six and ten hours.
Tip 5: Maintain a balanced diet
A healthy and balanced diet is essential both for the mind and body. Even if you don’t want to lose weight, you should focus on what you eat: knowledge is the key! Concentrate your diet on vegetables and fruits, reducing bad fats and sugars. Give intermittent fasting a try, or plan a full day of fasting now and then. Adapt your diet to your personal preferences and possible food intolerances. By optimizing your nutrition, you will maintain a perfect, balanced diet. Include other members of your household in your meal plan: It will be easier for you to follow it consistently if you are not the only one observing the regime. For greater success, remember to avoid buying and storing at home unhealthy processed, industrial foods at home for not to fall into temptation. It is ok to treat yourself now and then, but it shouldn’t become a pattern.
